Yanukovych congratulates Interfax-Ukraine on 20th Anniversary

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has met with Chairman of the Board of Directors of Interfax-Ukraine International Information Group Mikhail Komissar and Interfax-Ukraine Director General Oleksandr Martynenko on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of agency's work, the president's press service reported.

"Our cooperation with Interfax was founded, first of all, on mutual trust, because that's the basis of any relations," the president said.

Yanukovych also mentioned authority of and competence of the information agency.

In turn, Mikhail Komissar thanked the president for recognizing the impartiality of the agency's information coverage and said that unprejudiced and objective coverage of the events is one of the main standards of the work of Interfax.

The president's letter of congratulation to the agency read: "Over this time you have managed to make a significant contribution to the development of the independent media in Ukraine, and to the formation of professional journalism on the principles of the authenticity, impartiality and efficiency."

As the president noted, thanks to the professionalism of the journalists of the agency and the impartiality of its materials, Interfax-Ukraine has gained the image of an authoritative and competent source of quality and called-for information, and became one of the most cited in the country.

The head of the state wished the staff of the agency good health, and new creative plans and achievements.
