Shmyhal on free school meals in 2025: We'll seek opportunities, resources
The Ukrainian government intends to look for opportunities and resources to provide free meals to students of all grades in 2025, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said.
"President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy set an important task: students of all grades should have free meals. We will look for opportunities and resources for this," he said at a government meeting on Tuesday.
The prime minister recalled that in 2024, the state provided free hot meals for all primary school students.
"For this, we provide communities with the appropriate financial resource. Previously, we sent UAH 2 billion to the regions. Today, we are redirecting another UAH 268 million," he said.
The head of government also said that the state budget for 2025 provides UAH 2.9 billion for school meals and another UAH 960 million for the modernization of food service facilities.
