The Church of All Saints in Kyiv will receive assistance from UNESCO and the Japanese Trust Fund for restoration, the preparatory stage for collecting and analyzing the condition of the temple has already begun, the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra National Reserve reported.

"Within the framework of the UNESCO and Japanese Trust Fund project … Ukraine has received a grant to restore cultural monuments damaged by the war. The list includes not only objects destroyed by Russian shelling, but also buildings that can receive irreparable damage in wartime," the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra National Reserve said in a Facebook post on Thursday.

So, one of the temples of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra turned out to be among them: "The Church of All Saints of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra National Reserve, although, fortunately, it was not damaged by the devastating bombardments, but its condition and age indicate urgent restoration. This is especially true of painting, which we can lose if we do not take action. We are doing everything possible to speed up the restoration process, in particular, the chief architect's office has provided proposals for the formation of a technical task for designers who will review and update the documentation," said Ivan Yahovenko, Deputy Director General of the reserve.

It is reported that UNESCO will announce a competition to adjust the project documentation. It was developed 14 years ago - during this time, not only the condition of the church deteriorated, but also new methods of studying the condition of monuments and restoration appeared. The restoration project of the church provides for three stages: updating documentation, priority conservation of paintings and restoration work. Now the preparatory stage is underway, during which new data needs to be collected and analyzed.

"UNESCO has committed itself to support the project for the development of documentation and priority emergency response work. Together with the specialists of the reserve, we have developed a technical task for designers who will review and update the documentation, supplementing it with new research. This project also includes the study and conservation of the monumental painting of the church," said Daryna Nedzelska, Project Manager of the UNESCO Ukraine bureau.
