Ukraine plans to increase exports through Danube ports by another 2-7 mln tonnes in 2024

Since the beginning of the war, Ukraine has been able to increase exports through ports on the Danube six times – up to 33 million tonnes, but intends to increase it by another 2-7 million, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

“Our goal is to expand the export capacity of the Danube cluster from 33 million tonnes in 2023 to 35-40 million tonnes in 2024,” the prime minister said at a press conference on Monday.

According to him, the possibility of launching container transportation along the Danube is being considered, which will also increase export opportunities and create an alternative to land routes.

Shmyhal recalled that during the two years of war, more than 20 new transshipment points were opened in the Danube cluster, which ensured a six-fold increase in cargo turnover compared to 2021.
