Wind Parks of Ukraine completes installation of first 4.8 MW wind turbine of Ostrovsky project in Zakarpattia

The management company Wind Parks of Ukraine has completed the installation of the first wind turbine of the Ostrovsky wind park with a total installed capacity of 80 MW, located on the territory of the Nyzhni Vorota community on the border of Lviv and Zakarpattia regions, the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA) reported.

“A wind turbine with a unit installed power of 4.8 MW has a tower height of 120 m and a rotor diameter of 152 m. With such technical characteristics, this wind turbine can be called a “medium-sized wind turbine” in comparison with other wind turbines operating today in Ukraine,” the UWEA reported on Facebook on Thursday.

It is noted that the volume of electricity produced by the Ostrovsky wind park is sufficient to annually provide about 50,000 households with environmentally friendly electricity.

As Andriy Konechenkov, chairman of the board of the UWEA, commented to the Energy Reform online portal, the commissioning of the first turbine is planned in the spring of 2024, and several more turbines during the year.

According to him, the main construction of the entire wind farm is expected during 2025.

Konechenkov clarified that the company Wind Parks of Ukraine is responsible for the construction of the park, and Friendly Wind Technology LLC, which relocated production from the east of Ukraine, is responsible for the production of equipment. The latter noted on his Facebook that the wind turbine installed in Zakarpattia region was manufactured by the FVT enterprise in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, and was supposed to operate near the village of Ostrovka, Mykolaiv region, from which the name of the entire wind farm was derived. At the same time, they noted that after the outbreak of a full-scale war, these plans had to be changed.

“The Ostrovsky wind farm is the fourth such facility in the Carpathians. Before that, the Sambir-1 and Sambir-2 projects, as well as the Skole wind farm of the Eco-Optima company, began operating there. But for Zakarpattia this is really the first wind turbine ", noted Konechenkov.
