Ukrzaliznytsia expects holiday traffic at 65% of last year
JSC Ukrzaliznytsia expects holiday traffic at 65% of last year, almost 1 million tickets sold.
"Internal travel on New Year's Eve has boosted: with 17 additional trains, we reach almost 1 million tickets purchased for the New Year and Christmas period and 65% of traffic in 2019. I still do not see the figures for Amtrak, Deutsche Bahn and ÖBB for comparison, but this is a very positive trend, if we recall the second quarter and down 94% of passengers in Ireland, down 78% in France and Spain, down 77% in Italy and down 64% in Poland," head of communications and customer marketing for the passenger direction of Ukrzaliznytsia Oleksandr Shevchenko wrote on the Facebook page.
He also said that during the January's lockdown, Ukrzaliznytsia trains will continue to run, since carriages and stations are regularly disinfected, and it is mandatory for passengers and staff to wear masks throughout the journey.
