PM about court decision on PrivatBank: I am interested in saving funds of depositors, state

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said that he does not want to politicize the issue of upholding a claim of businessman Ihor Kolomoisky and declaring the nationalization of PrivatBank (Kyiv) illegal by Kyiv's district administrative court. He said that he is interested in saving the money of depositors and public funds.

"I am interested in saving depositors' money and public funds. The decision of the National Security and Defense Council regarding the decision of the National Bank provided for saving and capitalizing the bank by the state in order to ensure the stability of depositors' money. This was done by the state," Groysman said on the Pryamiy TV channel last week.

As for the court decision, then, according to the prime minister, "lawyers will find out everything that concerns the judicial system."

"I do not want to politicize anything in this matter, no politics. There is a court decision, there will be a corresponding appeal by the relevant authorities, including the National Bank, as it is the regulator of the banking system," Groysman said, asked if the court's decision could be connected with the fact that one of the presidential candidates is supposedly affiliated with businessman Kolomoisky.

Among other things, he said that at the moment, PrivatBank is in good condition and is functioning stably.
