Coal stocks at TPP warehouses 3.3% down over week

Coal reserves in the warehouses of thermal power plants (TPP) of power generating companies in Ukraine in the period from January 29 to February 5, 2018 decreased by 3.3% (by 49,500 tonnes), to 1.465 million tonnes, according to the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry.

According to Interfax-Ukraine calculations, for this period anthracite stocks decreased by 2.8% (by 18,500 tonnes), to 641,300 tonnes, gas coal reserves by 3.6% (by 30,900 tonnes), to 823,700 tonnes.

At the same time, coal reserves in the warehouses of combined heat and power plants (CHPP) over the week increased by 2.5% (by 6,300 tonnes), to 260,500 tonnes. In particular, anthracite stocks on February 5 were 0.4% higher than on January 29 (by 700 tonnes), to 188,900 tonnes, of those of gas coal rose by 8.5% (5,600 tonnes), to 71,600 tonnes.

As reported, coal stocks at TPPs have been growing for eight consecutive weeks, increasing from November 6, 2017 to January 2, 2018 by 73.6%, from 1.064 million tonnes to 1.847 million tonnes, but in the period from January 2 to January 29, 2018 gas stocks decreased by 18%, to 1.514 million tonnes.
