Ukraine intends to introduce free competition between types of transport - Omelyan

Logistics in Ukraine should be competitive and together with the logistics strategy it is planned to introduce free competition between different types of transport.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, minister Volodymyr Omelyan said this on November 17 during the presentation of the Logistics Strategy developed for Ukraine with the support of the World Bank.

The event was also attended by World Bank Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Satu Kahkonen, Head of Ukrzaliznytsia Yevhen Kravtsov, Head of the Reform Support Team under the Ministry of Infrastructure Oleksandra Klitina, representatives of the expert community and the public.

The minister of infrastructure stressed Ukraine's development as a full-fledged participant in the world economic processes is impossible without an understandable and clear logistics strategy.

"We are seriously considering the logistics strategy. This is not just a set of visions and policies, these are European directives that clearly regulate transport issues and which should be introduced in Ukraine," he said.

One of the key issues, according to the minister, is the reform of Ukrzaliznytsia.
