Ukraine decreases coke production by 20%, pipes output 25% up in Jan-Oct

Ukrainian metal companies tentatively decreased coke production by 20% in January-October 2017 year-over-year, to 8.588 million tonnes, the Ukrmetallurgprom association (Dnipro) has told Interfax-Ukraine.

Pipe production grew by 25%, to 876,000 tonnes.

In October alone, 93,600 tonnes of pipes and 901,000 tonnes of coke were made.

According to the revised data, metal companies in January-October 2017 produced 15.179 million tonnes of rolled steel (15% down year-over-year), 17.66 million tonnes of steel (13% down) and 16.424 million tonnes of cast iron (17% down).

In October, 1.896 million tonnes of steel, 1.697 million tonnes of rolled steel and 1.796 million tonnes of cast iron were produced.

In October 2017, the share of steel made using oxygen-converter process was 71.7% (1.36 million tonnes). The share of steel made in blast furnaces was 22.12% (419,000 tonnes) and 117,000 tonnes of steel (6.18%) was made in electric arc furnaces.
