NBU improves Ukraine's GDP for 2017 from 1.6% to 2.2%

Ukraine's real GDP in 2017 would grow by 2.2%, according to the reviewed forecast published by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU). Earlier the central bank expected that the Ukrainian economy would grow by 1.6% this year.

"This is linked to both favorable internal and external factors, which was reflected in the better than it was expected earlier results of economic operation of the major part of sectors in Q2 and Q3 2017," the central bank said on Thursday.

The NBU retained the forecast for GDP growth for 2018 at 3.2%, slightly worsening its pace in 2019 to 3.5% instead of 4% projected earlier.

The central bank said that the bank improved nominal GDP figure for this year from UAH 2.85 trillion to UAH 2.88 trillion.

As reported, last year the Ukrainian economy grew by 2.3% and nominal GDP totaled UAH 2.383 trillion.
