Macroeconomic figures updated by government over blockade in Donbas close to NBU figures

The updated macroeconomic indicators for Ukraine's economic development calculated by Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers, taking into account the consequences of the blockade of trade in Donbas, are similar to calculations made by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk has said.

"Today we have almost completed the assessment of the influence [of the blockade]. We have figures... Yesterday the NBU presented its position in public, you can refer to it," the minister told reporters before a government meeting on Wednesday.

Danyliuk said that the forecast for GDP growth calculated by the government coincides with the NBU's forecast: 1.9% for 2017. He said that the budget deficit will be retained at the current level.

"We have proved that there is an effect, but in general, it is not so large. Our economy would cope with negative consequences. We believe that the economy would develop," the minister said.

Danyliuk said that the calculations will be handed to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Wednesday. All technical obstacles for considering the provision of the tranche to Ukraine by the IMF Board of Governors are removed.
