Ukraine's intl reserves reach $15.4 bln – NBU deputy head

Ukraine's international reserves as at today have grown to $15.4 billion from $15.3 billion as of the end of November, Deputy Head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Dmytro Solohub has said.

"Now the situation has improved, we have $15.4 billion of reserves after the Finance Ministry's placing forex government domestic loan bonds on December 13," he said, speaking at a meeting of the senior expert council under the NBU Council.

According to him, the positive trend is also observed in the dynamics of net reserves. Solohub noted the amount of net reserves is not sufficient, given the volume of available liquidity and the degree of openness of the Ukrainian economy.

As reported, Ukraine's international reserves as of December 1 totaled $15.3 billion, which is almost 1.4% less than a month earlier. Two weeks later, the level of reserves fell to $15.2 billion.
