The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) first after a nine month break has provided refinancing loans for more than 30 calendar days to four banks in the amount of UAH 3.545 billion, the regulator has reported on its website.

According to the report, the NBU on December 7 held a tender to support liquidity of banks. A UAH 2.632 billion loan was provided to Ukrgasbank with government bonds and foreign currency used as collateral, UAH 648.133 million to Alfa-Bank with foreign currency used as collateral, UAH 251.357 million to Diamantbank (government bonds as collateral) and UAH 13.16 million to ING Bank (foreign currency).

The NBU said that earlier in March 2016 UAH 200 million was provided to Prominvestbank for the period of up to three months and UAH 190 million to Bank Khreschatyk with government bonds used as collateral.

The National Bank since mid-2015 has been using only monetary instruments to support bank liquidity, whose maturities do not exceed three months and starting April 2016 the central bank issued the loan only for the period of up to 30 days.
