Distributors hope Sanofi Pasteur S.A. to supply additional influenza vaccine late Nov

Pharmaceutical distributors hope that demand on flu vaccine could be satisfied thanks to additional supplies of influenza vaccine by Sanofi Pasteur S.A. (France) at the end of November.

Business Center Pharmacia, the distributor of the French manufacturer, told Interfax-Ukraine that the next batch of influenza vaccine could be made by late November.

At present distributors are closing the applications submitted earlier. However, they cannot satisfy demand.

"This year fewer influenza vaccines were made. The situation last year was better," he said.

"At present, Sanofi Pasteur has not provided 25,000 vaccine doses ordered by us," Director of the purchase department of Optima Pharm Ukrainian distributor Olena Moskalenko told Interfax-Ukraine.

She said that Sanofi Pasteur explained the absence of vaccine by production of not enough doses and supplies of tender vaccines, which the company produces first.

A private medical center in Mykolaiv told Interfax-Ukraine that they do not have influenza vaccine.

Sanofi in Ukraine told Interfax-Ukraine that at present the manufacturer first supplies influenza vaccine to Kyiv and distributors organize deliveries to the regions.

GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ukraine told Interfax-Ukraine that influenza vaccine for 206-2017 season made by GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals is not shipped to Ukraine. However, GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals registered here influenza vaccine.

The market operators said that at present all influenza vaccines shipped within the budget procurement tenders to budget-funded organizations.
