Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy and China Ambassador to Ukraine Du Wei have discussed the prospects of invigoration of inter-parliamentary and economic cooperation.

"I hope this cooperation will be strengthened," the chairman said at a meeting with the Chinese ambassador.

He stressed the importance of China's solid position in the issue of Ukraine's territorial integrity.

"China's firm stance should serve as a good example of strategic relations. Ukraine has every day to defend its values, opposing Russian aggression. Intensive efforts, including those of China, relative to pressure on Russia were important for us," the parliament speaker said.

Parubiy also spoke in favor of Ukraine's accession to the format of the Silk Road, which was founded by China in 2012 and covers the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

"Ukraine is following the way of reforms, in spite of military operations, and the way of infrastructure development. I am sure their implementation has both economic and transit potential," Parubiy said.
