Ukrainian prison authorities will use ProZorro e-system for procurements

Agencies and institutions of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine will use the ProZorro electronic procurement system to buy commodities, First Deputy Justice Minister Natalia Sevostyanova said.

"As you know, the reform of the penitentiary service has begun, and one of the components of this reform is connected with optimization of costs, which are given from the state budget to make it cost-efficient and transparent to every citizen," Sevostyanova said at a press conference on Thursday in Kyiv.

According to her, ProZorro, which will be used by the State Penitentiary Service, is expected to save up to 25% of the funds to be spent on Ukrainian prisons and prisoners.

"From our side, we are ready to do this within one or two months. After tender committees are created, we will work out new procurement regulations, train the staff and help them conduct the first one or two procurement operations to get familiar with the system. I am confident that the prison service can essentially feel and the financial impact of this system and enjoy greater transparency," Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Maksym Nefyodov.

The parties also signed a memorandum on the features and concepts of public procurements by the agencies and institutions of the State Penitentiary System of Ukraine.
