Ukrtelecom posts UAH 100 mln net profit, sees income rise by 2.7% in Q1, 2016

PJSC Ukrtelecom in January-March 2016 saw income rise by 2.7% compared to the same period in 2015, to UAH 1.712 billion, according to a company fiscal report released at a press conference in Kyiv.

Its net profit for the first quarter amounted to UAH 100 million, whereas a year earlier it reported a net loss of UAH 165.5 million for the same period last year.

Capital investment rose by 64.7%, to UAH 56 million, EBITDA by 12%, to UAH 500 million. The EBITDA margin grew by 2.5 percentage points, to 29.2%.

Revenues from telecommunications services for the period amounted to UAH 1.565 billion. At the same time, income from fixed telephony services remained unchanged and amounted to UAH 824 million, income from Internet access services increased by 17% and amounted to UAH 368 million.

The active base of the national operator for telephony by the end of the reporting quarter amounted to 6.3 million telephone lines, more than 1.6 billion Internet users.

Revenues in the B2B sector (business to business) at Ukrtelecom rose to UAH 310 million from UAH 301 million, in the B2C sector (business to consumer) to UAH 967 million from UAH 918 million. At the same time, income from inter-operator business fell to UAH 288 million from UAH 368 million. The reduction of income in this segment was due to the decrease in the volume of international traffic and lower interconnection rates.

In the first quarter the operator paid more than UAH 410 million of taxes and duties to the budgets of all levels.
