Prime minister propose creating seven state holdings

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has proposed that public companies are removed from management of ministries and seven state holdings are created on their basis.

"I will propose that government members remove all public companies from the management of ministries and ministers. Ministers should not manage public assets. Ministers should define national policy," the prime minister said, opening a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

"The companies are to form seven state holdings which will be managed by independent directors appointed at open tenders with participation of our international partners," he said.

Yatseniuk said that this is the key reform in the public asset management system. He took Ukrzaliznytsia as an example of corporatization and the new regulations of national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy and the energy reform as an example of public asset management.
