IMF mission, Yatseniuk, Jaresko, Tymoshenko discuss budget, tariffs

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said that every parliamentary faction can meet with the mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), with the participation of the prime minister and the minister of finance, to discuss the draft national budget for 2016, draft tax reform, and other structural reforms.

The first of these three-hour meetings has already taken place with the involvement of Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko.

"I appeal to the parliamentary factions that are ready to take an active part in the preparation of the national budget and changes to the tax, customs and, in general, economic policy for 2016, and make the decision on holding meetings with the IMF," Yatseniuk said, opening a cabinet meeting in Kyiv.

"The prime minister and the finance minister are ready to hold such meetings with the figures, facts, and a clear definition of policy which is necessary for the Ukrainian state in 2016,"he said.

He expressed confidence that the national budget for 2016 will be adopted soon. According to him, the government also supported the proposals of the Ministry of Finance to change tax and customs policies. Together with them, the Verkhovna Rada will also receive draft legislative changes on health, education, privatization, and public procurement.

"We need a joint political will to demonstrate that Ukraine is not leaving the way of correct economic reforms for the country," Yatseniuk said.
