Deposit Guarantee Fund pays over UAH 750 mln to depositors of Delta Bank in first two days of payment launch

The Individuals' Deposit Guarantee Fund in the first two days since the start of payments to depositors of Delta Bank (Kyiv) has paid over UAH 750 million via four authorized banks, the fund has said on its website.

"Delta Bank is a large systemic bank, and the total sum of payments is the largest over the period of the Deposit Guarantee Fund's existence," the fund said.

According to the report, at present, payments are settled under deposit agreements which expired before March 3, 2015 and under banking account agreements – current and card accounts, including wage, pension and social accounts. The payments would total UAH 4.9 billion, and the register of payments to depositors of Delta bank amounts to UAH 13.1 billion.

The fund has asked depositors not to create a panic.

"There are enough funds to settle the payments. All depositors included in the register would receive the guaranteed sum in the term set in Ukrainian law," reads the report.

Payments will be settled while the bank is under temporary administration.

As reported, the Individuals' Deposit Guarantee Fund from June 11 will start payments to the depositors of Delta Bank.

The fund introduced temporary administration up until June 2, and in early April it decided to extend it until September 2.

Delta Bank was founded in 2006. Its largest shareholders in early 2015 were Mykola Lahun (70.6059%) and Cargill Financial Services International, Inc. (29.3941%).

Delta Bank ranked 4th among 158 operating banks on January 1, 2015 by total assets (UAH 60.303 billion), according to the National Bank of Ukraine.
