Wizz Air not changing plans on Ukraine

Wizz Air Group does not plan to change its plans on its operation in Ukraine.

"Wizz Air continues servicing flights to/from Ukraine on the basis of current demand. We permanently monitor the demand of passengers and directions as on all the markets where the group is present, and today we don't have any plans to change our work in Ukraine," the group told Interfax-Ukraine.

When asked about what resulted in the closure of the Ukrainian subsidiary of the group, the group said that Wizz Air Group halted the operation of Wizz Air Ukraine due to business views related to the situation in eastern Ukraine.

However, the group added that it still sticks to its strategy of resuming operation in the future with a base in Kyiv.

Commenting on the new base in Kosice, Wizz Air said that it will be opened next month.

As reported, Hungary's Wizz Air Holdings Plc will continue restructuring activities in Ukraine and from April 20, 2015 Wizz Air Hungary will operate eight flights to and from Ukraine, and its subsidiary Wizz Air Ukraine, which currently operates 16 flights using two airplanes, will cease operations from April 20.

According to the press service of the airline, Hungary's Wizz air base will open in Kyiv on June 4, 2015. One Airbus A320 aircraft will be based there.
