NBU supports Platinum Plant with UAH 240 mln stabilization loan

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has decided to support liquidity of Platinum Bank (Kyiv) and provide a stabilization loan of UAH 240 million to the bank, NBU said in a posting on its website.

According to the report, the loan is provided for two years with the purpose of ensuring the fulfillment of liabilities by the bank to its depositors on time.

NBU said that the decision is stipulated in NBU resolution No. 200/BT of March 27, 2015.

NBU made the decision when Platinum Bank disclosed information on beneficiaries of the only shareholder in the bank - PT Platinum Public Limited (Cyprus).

Head of the supervisory board of Platinum Bank Hryhoriy Hurtovy submitted documents to the central bank seeking the permit to increase his stake in the bank and acquire a controlling stake via purchase of shares from several key participants of PT Platinum Public Limited. As a result, indirect participation of Hurtovy in the bank will total 71.2%.

According to the report, immovable property is used as collateral for the loan.

Platinum Bank (previously International Mortgage Bank) was created in 2005.

Platinum Bank ranked 30th among 158 operating banks as of January 1, 2015, in terms of total assets worth UAH 7.134 billion, according to NBU.
