Ukrainian PC market narrows to 2005 level in 2014

Supplies of PCs to Ukraine came to almost 1.12 units in 2014, which is 53% down on 2013.

According to International Data Corporation (IDC), supplies of desktop PCs fell by 50.3%, to 396,000 units, and laptop supplies decreased by 54.5%, to 722,000 units.

"Thus, the capacity of the country's PC market fell to the level of 2005," reads the report.

IDC said that in Q4 2014 the Ukrainian PC market narrowed by 50.3%, to 328,000 units. Supplies of desktop PCs were down by 55.6%, to 109,000 and laptops – by 47.2%, to 219,000.

"Analysts said that the PC market in Central and Eastern Europe shrank by 14% in 2014. Along with Ukraine Russia (a fall of 23%) and Kazakhstan (a fall of 43%) showed the downward pace due to recession and devaluation of national currencies. Growth in supplies was seen in other countries of the region. In Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania the PC market grew by 8%, 18% and 25% in kind respectively. In Western Europe PC supplies rose by 17% on average," the company said.
