Ukraine's forex reserves over the last three years fell from $37 billion to $15 billion, and ending funds on the single treasury account decreased to UAH 4.3 million, candidate for prime minister, head of the Batkivschyna faction Arseniy Yatseniuk said at the Verkhovna Rada on February 27.

"Ukraine's state treasury has been plundered and is empty," he stated.

Yatseniuk added that the state debt has reached $75 billion, while in 2010 it was half that.

"Some $37 billion was received in loans, which disappeared in an unknown direction," said the candidate for prime minister.

According to him, the previous authorities transferred $70 billion to offshore accounts.

Yatseniuk indicated that at present the final and reliable data on the national budget are not available, however it is clear that the new government will have to resort to unpopular measures.

"Therefore I state: I do not promise improvement either today or tomorrow. Our main goal is stabilization," he said.
