The collegium of the Youth and Sports Ministry of Ukraine has supported the suggestion of the Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU) and state-run company "Olympiysky NSC" to apply to host the UEFA Champions League final in the 2016-2017, 2017-2018, or 2018-2019 seasons.
"Having analyzed the UEFA criteria on the final of club competitions one can reach the conclusion that Olympiysky NSC corresponds to the above-mentioned standards except for a certain infrastructure ensuring the work of mass media," reads a statements issued by the ministry's press service on Friday.
According to the ministry, in these difficult times for Ukraine, such an event will give Ukrainian fans a real celebration of football involving the strongest teams in Europe and will show Ukraine to be a hospitable and friendly country.
As reported, on April 17, the FFU decided to apply to host the UEFA Champions League final in Kyiv at Olympiysky NSC.
