In Ukraine, 79% support holding intl peace conference, but only 22% would support Russia's participation in it – opinion poll

The overwhelming majority (79%) of Ukrainians support the initiative to hold an international peace conference at the highest level to achieve peace in Ukraine, according to the results of a sociological survey conducted by the sociological service of the Razumkov Center from January 19 to January 25 and presented at a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine agency on Wednesday.

Only 9% of respondents do not support holding such a conference.

At the same time, only 22% of respondents supported the participation of the Russian Federation in this conference (from 20% in the central macroregion to 28% in the south), 58% would not support it. To a lesser extent, those respondents who lived for some time in the territory occupied by Russian troops supported the participation of the Russian Federation in this conference (11% of them expressed such support).

The study was conducted within the framework of the "Join!" Program for Promoting Social Activism, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The survey was conducted by face-to-face interview among 2,000 adult respondents in government-controlled territories where there is no fighting. The structure of the sample population reproduces the demographic structure of the adult population of the territories in which the survey was conducted, as of the beginning of 2022 (by age, gender, type of settlement). The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%. Additional systematic deviations of the sample are possible, in particular, due to the evacuation of citizens.
