UNDP, with funding from Republic of Korea, Iceland, transfers 40 high-voltage bushings to Ukrenergo
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine, with funding from the governments of the Republic of Korea and Iceland, transferred 40 high-voltage bushings to NPC Ukrenergo, which will help in the restoration of energy facilities damaged by the enemy.
"Unfortunately, during attacks by Russian missiles and drones, this part of the equipment is one of the first to be damaged. New bushings received from our international partners will help quickly eliminate the consequences of enemy attacks on our energy facilities," Ukrenergo noted, citing director on investments of Oleр Pavlenko on Tuesday.
In turn, the Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine, Christophoros Politis, emphasized that, in addition to complex work on the repair and modernization of energy equipment, UNDP will continue to support the Ukrainian government in restoring the energy infrastructure.
"Together with the Republic of Korea, Iceland and other partners, UNDP has contributed to more stable energy supplies for more than 6 million people. UNDP will continue to work with the Ukrainian government to strengthen energy independence, prioritizing decentralization and the transition to renewable energy sources," he said.
As the company explained, bushing is a vital component in power transmission and distribution systems. Although small in size compared to transformers or other transmission system equipment, it plays a key role in ensuring a reliable power supply. If the bushing is damaged, energy cannot reach consumers, even if the transformer is working.
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukrenergo has already received equipment worth about EUR 20 million from UNDP.
