Russia now rejects possibility of intl commission to study causes of Il-76 crash – Yusov

The creation of an open international commission to investigate the crash of the Russian Il-76 military transport aircraft near Belgorod is "logical;" the Russian Federation currently rejects the possibility of the commission's work, said Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

"As for the specific reasons for the crash of this plane, then, of course, the demand for the creation of an open international commission is logical and justified. Because in order to find out what exactly caused the crash of the plane, you can study the remains, the wreckage of the plane, 'black boxes,' and of course, carefully study the location of the aircraft track. Now, as we hear, the Russian Federation rejects the possibility of such a commission," Yusov said on air at the telethon.

He emphasized that we are talking about a military plane that was involved in transporting Russian weapons and personnel, and also that the Russian Federation did not inform Ukraine that Ukrainian prisoners of war would be transported by plane.

The Intelligence Agency also indicated that January 24 was supposed to be one of the largest exchanges during a full-scale war.

As reported, on the morning of Wednesday, January 24, an Il-76 plane crashed near the Russian city of Belgorod, on board which, according to Russian media reports, could have been Ukrainian prisoners of war.
