Kuleba: Taurus topic not closed for us yet

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said that negotiations on the provision of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine by Germany are ongoing.

"I don't think the chancellor is afraid of Putin. The Taurus topic is not closed for us yet and we continue to work on it. Germany always holds itself to very high moral standards, but it overlooks what a huge turnaround it has already made. Remember the time before February 24, 2022, when people only talked about friendship with Russia. Today no one does this anymore," he said in an interview with the German publication Welt.

Kuleba said Ukraine is preparing "for the worst winter in history" as it tries to protect its energy system from Russian attacks.

"So we will turn a blind eye if we don't get Taurus as long as we get air defense systems. We try to protect our power plants as best we can. But Russians are learning. They will once again test our endurance with their missiles. But we will win," the Foreign Minister is convinced.

Kuleba also noted that he was present at many conversations between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and "is convinced that Scholz firmly believes in us."

"Germany is the second largest aid provider. This speaks for itself," he emphasized.
