ICRC reports Russia's approval to open humanitarian convoy to Mariupol, corridors from Melitopol, Energodar - Vereschuk

Ukraine has received a notification from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) that the Russian Federation confirms its readiness to open access for a humanitarian convoy to Mariupol with transit through Berdiansk. In addition, two humanitarian corridors have been agreed in Zaporizhia region – from Melitopol and Energodar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereschuk has said.

"We will do everything possible so that buses enter Mariupol today and pick up people who have not yet been able to get out of the city," Vereschuk said, the press service of the President’s Office reports.

She specified that 45 buses were sent to Mariupol along the route. Of these, 28 as of 09:00 received permission to pass through the Russian checkpoint in Vasylivka. In addition, 17 buses left Zaporizhia.

Two humanitarian corridors have also been agreed in Zaporizhia region, in particular, for the delivery of humanitarian aid and the evacuation of people from the city of Melitopol. It is also planned to pass a column of citizens on their own transport from the city of Energodar to Zaporizhia.

Vereschuk added that on the way to Zaporizhia, people on their own transport will be able to join the humanitarian convoys from Mariupol and Melitopol.

"Our military has fully confirmed and guarantees a complete ceasefire. So, at 9:00 we start evacuation," she said.
