Poroshenko approves expansion of benefits to participants in Donbas war, Revolution of Dignity, their families

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed a law that strengthens the social protection of participants in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO), the Revolution of Dignity and their families.

"Ukraine supports the heroes of the Revolution of Dignity and warriors who protect us from Russian aggression," he wrote on his Facebook page on Friday.

Poroshenko signed the respective law introducing amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine relating to social protection of the affected participants in the Revolution of Dignity and some other persons.

According to him, this document determines and expands the benefits and guarantees of the injured participants in EuroMaidan, improves the legislation on the status of employees who participated in the ATO, and regulates the order of examination for children with disabilities.

The law also brings in line with Article 9 of the law on the status of war veterans the clauses of Articles 6, 7 and 10 of this law regarding the determination of the status of employees of enterprises, institutions and organizations that took a direct part in ensuring the holding of the ATO, etc.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the respective draft law, No. 8201, at second reading and as a whole on May 22, 2018.
