Anti-Corruption Court will consider cases with damage of about UAH 900,000 – MP

The Anti-Corruption Court, according to the bill, will consider cases in which the damage or the crime subject exceeds 500 subsistence minimums, People's Deputy from the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko faction Valeriy Karpuntsov has said.

According to the press service of the faction, the MP rejected criticism that the Anti-Corruption Court will be "overwhelmed" with a huge number of cases, and therefore will be ineffective.

"It's not entirely true. It's possible to remove something, in particular crimes related to drug, weapons trafficking, because they indirectly have the signs of an official crime. But e-declarations should be," Karpuntsov said.

According to him, the draft law provides that the Anti-Corruption Court will consider cases if the subject of the crime or the damage caused is at least 500 times higher than the subsistence level (UAH 881,000 as of January 1, 2018).

As for cases involving extortion of weapons, according to the deputy, these are criminal cases and abuse of office.
