President points out necessity of aligning money supply of border guards and military servicemen

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has pointed out the necessity of aligning money supply of border guards, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, warriors of the National Guard and other security institutions.

"We have to adopt an immediate decision and make amendments to the State Budget in order to increase the financial supply of the State Border Service," the head of state said at the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on Friday.

"It is inadmissible when different servicemen have different wages, when the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine receive UAH 7,000 and border guards receive UAH 4,000-4,500," Poroshenko said.

The president noted that border guards served in the ATO area as well. Thus, they defend the state just as the National Guard and the Armed Forces.

Poroshenko offered to include the given issue to the final decision of Friday's meeting and addressed the prime minister and the parliamentary speaker with a proposal to ensure money supply aligning.

Respective draft law must be submitted to parliament as an urgent one. "We should solve the issue of border guards in the nearest time," Poroshenko said.

The president has also pointed out the need for the further enhancement of contract service in the Armed Forces. At the same time, the increase of professional differentiation in the determination of financial supply level of servicemen is essential.

"We should create proper motivation and improve skills of servicemen. Except moral stimuli, there should also be efficient material stimuli for the service in the ATO area and on the frontline," Poroshenko added.
