President: only military specialists will be enrolled in third phase of partial mobilization

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has introduced changes to the third phase of partial mobilization in Ukraine, the presidential press service has reported.

"Only those who have a military occupation will be enrolled: riot police officers, artillery men and other military specialists," the president told journalists in Mykolaiv on Thursday.

Poroshenko also said he had approved schedules for troop rotations.

He said that the third phase of the mobilization would allow the rotation of military units that are in the area of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO). The ATO forces will be soon reinforced with three brigades, two of which are part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and one that belongs to the National Guard.

"This will allow us to maintain combat power and give a break to servicemen currently on duty," the president said.

The president also noted the need to improve the quality of training of military specialists who are mobilized in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Today we have to replace the troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard with more professional mobilized military men. This will contribute to faster restoration of peace in Ukraine," Poroshenko said.

The law on the third phase of partial mobilization in Ukraine entered into force on July 24.
