Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has detained in Luhansk region an armed sabotage group of 15 people who planned an armed seizure of power in the region.

"The group planned to carry out an armed seizure of power in Luhansk region on April 10 through intimidation of civilians using weapons and explosives," the SBU press center told Interfax-Ukraine on Saturday.

As the results of a large-scale special operation, the SBU detained 15 active members of a sabotage ring, seized 300 machineguns, one anti-tank grenade launcher, five pistols, Molotov cocktails and a large amount of smooth-bore guns and cold steel weapons.

Criminal proceedings under Article 113 (sabotage) and Article 111 (high treason) were launched against the members of the ring, the SBU reported. Detentions and searches in Luhansk and seven districts of the region continue.
