Processing of 100% ballots from the Crimean referendum showed 96.77% voters are in favor of Crimea becoming a part of Russia, Chairman of the Crimean Referendum Commission Mikhail Malyshev said on Monday morning.

"The number of votes cast by the referendum participants in support of the reunification with Russia totaled 1,233,002, or 96.77%," he said.

In all, 1,274,096 voters took part in the referendum, or 83.1% of their total number, he said.

These figures are the final result of the Crimean referendum held in Crimea a day earlier, Malyshev said.

"The status of Crimea as a part of Ukraine was favored by 31,997 people, or 2.51%. The number of ballots recognized as invalid was 9,097, which is 0.72%," he said.

The referendum held on Sunday asked two alternative questions: "1. Are you in favor of Crimea's reunification with Russia as a constituent region of the Russian Federation? (yes or no); "2. Are you in favor of the re-enactment of the 1992 Republic of Crimea Constitution and in favor of the status of Crimea as a part of Ukraine (yes or no)".
