Melnychenko will demand to replace bail by travel ban
Former officer of the State Guard Department Mykola Melnychenko and his defense team are dissatisfied with the ruling of Kyiv's Shevchenkivsky District Court to release the ex-major on bail. They will appeal that the ruling be replaced by a travel ban. "We will appeal against this ruling, as we asked to put a travel ban on him. This is the optimal measure of restraint. We did not ask for a bail, because releasing a person on bail who returned voluntarily would not be a correct ruling," Melnychenko's lawyer Mykola Nedilko said. Melnychenko told journalists near the exit of the court that he was summoned to an interrogation by the Security Service of Ukraine for 1600. He will be guarded by employees of Alfa special police force. "I was summoned to an interrogation for 1600. Alfa will guard me. I am not satisfied with the court ruling. […] We will appeal against Shevchenkivsky Court's ruling," Melnychenko said. Later on, Interfax-Ukraine was informed that employees of the Sokol special police force of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine would guard Melnychenko, and not Alfa.
