CEC changes drawing procedure for inclusion of candidates in district election commissions
The Central Election Commission (CEC) has changed the procedure for drawing candidates for members of district election commissions.
At a meeting on September 13, eight members of the CEC supported the decision, two members voted against it, and two members abstained from voting.
A member of the CEC, Oleksandr Shelestov, explained that it is proposed to hold "in fact one draw."
According to the new procedure, all candidates in each district will be added to a separate table, after which the numbers of the candidates for district commission members will be determined via a draw.
The CEC used the same drawing procedure to form district commissions. As a result of that draw, candidates from the UDAR Party and the Svoboda All-Ukrainian Union did not receive seats at the district commissions.
Representative of the Batkivschyna Party Ruslan Kniazevych stated that the party has practically no time to appeal in court against the decision of the CEC, as the draw has to be held no later than September 21.
"This means that we can stop talking about fair elections," he said.
