Iceland to continue to use its voice in support of Ukraine everywhere – FM

Reykjavik will continue to provide targeted practical support to Ukraine, Icelandic Foreign Minister Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir assured during her visit to Kyiv.
"Iceland, of course, will continue to use its voice in support of Ukraine everywhere. And we will continue to provide targeted practical support, for example, in the field of demining, energy infrastructure and your defense industry. I think this is very important through the so-called Danish model," she said at a press conference with her Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Sybiha in Kyiv, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reports.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that Russia’s gross violations of the UN Charter represent a major challenge for the entire international community, and it is necessary "to ensure that Russia does not achieve its goal by completely violating international law."
"The multilateral system and our shared values of freedom, democracy and the rule of law are at stake," Gunnarsdóttir added.
She pointed out that "no one wants peace more than the Ukrainians," and it must be a just and lasting peace based on the UN Charter.
"And it is essential that there is nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine," Gunnarsdóttir said.
The Minister emphasized Iceland’s unwavering solidarity with the people of Ukraine and its continued commitment to providing humanitarian, economic and defense support to Ukraine.
"And I emphasize: as much as necessary. We truly admire your resilience and determination in your fight for your freedom and sovereignty," she said.
The minister also reported that in the morning she visited a large thermal power plant to see with her own eyes the destruction that the war has brought to Ukraine.
