Ukrenergo Supervisory Board to decide on dismissal of CEO Kudrytsky on Monday – source

The meeting of the Supervisory Board of NPC Ukrenergo, where a vote on the dismissal of the company's CEO Volodymyr Kudrytsky is planned, is scheduled for Monday, a source familiar with the situation reported.

"The meeting of the Supervisory Board is scheduled for Monday. Most likely, the dismissal will take place. Considering that the Supervisory Board has six members instead of seven: three independent and three state representatives, and Roman Pionkovsky is more likely to support the initiator of the dismissal – the main shareholder represented by the Ministry of Energy," the source of Interfax-Ukraine said on Saturday morning.

At the same time, he expressed hope that the public resonance, in particular, in the energy community, which was caused by the possibility of dismissing Kudrytsky, as well as the great support of his Western partners, will help stop this process.

"If this does not work out, then I hope that at least it will be possible to appoint a professional acting head and announce a full-fledged competition for the head of the board," the source said.

The company itself does not comment on this issue.

According to the company's Telegram channel, the following are being considered for the position of Ukrenergo head: Dmytro Olefir, head of the supervisory board of the Market Operator, who worked at Ukrenergo and was also a member of its supervisory board; Oleh Kozachuk, recently dismissed from the position of Khmelnytskoblenergo; Oleksandr Hava, head of the board of the Market Operator; Artem Nekrasov, head of SOE Guaranteed Buyer. In particular, MP Andriy Zhupanin (Servant of the People), energy expert of the Ukrainian Institute of the Future Andrian Prokip; managing partner of the consulting company Imepower, which operates, among other things, in the green energy market, and member of the board of the European-Ukrainian Energy Agency Yuriy Kubrushko; head of the Bioenergy Association Heorhiy Heletukha, as well as a number of other representatives of the energy industry have already publicly spoken out in support of Kudrytsky on their social networks.

As reported, Forbes Ukraine, citing its own sources, reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, at a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Headquarters on Friday, August 30, voiced a demand for Kudrytsky to write a letter of resignation of his own free will in the near future, but he refused. Now the decision on his resignation must be made by the company's supervisory board. The reason for the demand for his resignation is said to be the unfinished protective structures around the system operator's substations, which allegedly led to interruptions in electricity supplies after the combined massive shelling on August 26.

Director of the Center for Energy Research Oleksandr Kharchenko noted in a commentary to the publication that the accusations against Kudritsky are unfounded, adding that Energoatom and Ukrhydroenergo are experiencing similar problems. He also said that if the company's supervisory board decides to resign the head of Ukrenergo, "we can forget about the independence of supervisory boards in Ukrainian state-owned companies."
