The Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine has proposed that the volume of wheat exports from Ukraine in the 2018/19 agricultural year (July-June) is fixed at 8 million tonnes for first-fifth wheat classes, the Ukragroconsult consulting agency has reported.

According to a posting on the agency's website, the ministry proposes to include the volume in a memorandum, which is traditionally signed at the beginning of the season with market players. It also includes exports of flour (expressed in grain).

"The figure indicated in the memorandum is not final, it can be proposed for revision in January 2019, depending on the availability of bread wheat for domestic consumption," Ukragroconsult said.

According to the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry, the memorandum will be signed on Friday, August 10, then officially the figures on wheat export will be announced and confirmed.

First Deputy Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Maksym Martyniuk in the Ekonomichna Pravda column said that in the memorandum with grain traders the forecasted expected volumes of export of only bread wheat will be fixed.

"So, if in the 2016/2017 season, in the supplement to the memorandum, forecasts were made for the majority of food crops - wheat, rye, barley, last season we discussed only the volumes of wheat exports – bread and coarse grains, and this year we plan to fix export volumes exclusively for bread wheat," he wrote.
