Kyiv hosts 6th round of talks on FTA between Ukraine and Israel

The sixth round of negotiations on the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Israel ended in Kyiv on Friday, July 28, the Economic Development and Trade Ministry of Ukraine reported.

"During the talks, the sides noted significant progress in coordinating the draft text of the Agreement, in particular, they worked through and virtually completed the discussion of the main provisions: institutional, general and final provisions, customs procedures, rules of origin, dispute settlement, etc. In addition, the delegations continued to discuss the access to commodity markets and determined the needed reduction in customs tariffs for sensitive goods, in particular in the agricultural sector," the report said.

"Our position has been formed taking into account the results of the consultations with industrial and business associations, it is important that free trade agreements create new opportunities for Ukrainian exporters, therefore it is necessary to provide duty-free access to as many agricultural and industrial goods as possible to the Israeli market," said Deputy Economy Minister – Ukraine's Trade Representative Natalia Mykolska, who chairs the Ukrainian delegation at the talks.

This has been the third meeting of delegations in 2017. The next round of talks will be held in Israel.
