Ukrainian PM says Kyiv's European integration choice unchanged after Brexit

Despite the victory of supporters of Britain's exit from the European Union (Brexit) at the Thursday referendum, the unity of Europe will be maintained and Ukraine won't change its policy towards the integration into the EU, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said.

"Sadly, today is not the best day for the united Europe. I accept and respect the results of the referendum in the UK, but I believe that the unity of the European peoples will be maintained, because it is based on the common democratic values," Groysman wrote on his Facebook page on Friday morning.

He stressed that the Ukrainian people remain loyal to these European democratic values. "We have suffered for our European choice and continue to pay a high price for it, protecting not only our sovereignty but also the eastern borders of Europe, therefore we will continue to fight for a strong united Europe and injects new energy into the European integration processes," Groysman said.

According to the latest results, 51.9% of UK voters supported Britain's exit from the EU.
