Ukrenergo to finish construction of Kakhovska substation in 2016

State-run enterprise Ukrenergo will finish the construction of the Kakhovska substation in 2016, Deputy Director of State Enterprise NEC Ukrenergo, the director of the southern grid Oleksanr Kochubey said in an interview with the Odeski Izvestia newspaper.

"We'll do our best to complete the projects that have begun this year. First of all, this is the construction of the substation Kakhovska. By the way, this is another indicator of our company's performance in 2015. Back in February, there was literally an open field on 32 hectares instead of the substation, and now the facility is ready by 60-70%. We will do all we can so that next year the substation could be put into operation. The same applies to the 750 kV Zaporizhia NPP-Kakhovka line," Kochubey said.

According to state-enterprise Energoatom, a project is now under way at Zaporizhia nuclear power plant (NPP) for the extension of an open 750 kV switchgear device for further connection of the overhead Zaporizhia NPP-Kakhovka line power.

"This project is of great economic and strategic importance for Ukraine. The new line, which will stretch for 200 km, from the city of Zaporizhia to the town of Kakhovka, will improve the power supply to Kherson and Odesa regions and will release the "locked" capacity of Zaporizhia NPP.
