Energy ministry sends bill on electricity market to govt

The Energy and Coal Industry Ministry of Ukraine has sent a bill on the electricity market to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, head of the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry's department for European integration Mykhailo Bno-Airiian wrote on his Facebook page.

"The last coordination with foreign partners was slightly delayed, but all the details, in particular, the terms of the implementation, have been settled," he said.

The bill outlines the introduction of all segments of the new market during two years from the moment of the law takes effect, including the "one day forward" market, diurnal market, balancing market, auxiliary service market, and the bilateral contract market.

According to the document, the transitive period will be in effect by late 2018, and guaranteed buyers will buy up to 75% of the operating capacity of nuclear power plants (NPPs) and up to 30% of average daily generation by hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) at the regulated prices.

"Guaranteed buyers will compensate (in the transitive period) the feed-in tariffs and tariffs of combined heat and power plants thanks to the regulation of the prices for NPPs and HPPs and they will gradually balance the prices for household consumers to the market level," he said.
