Infrastructure Ministry proposes introduction of passenger car inspections from 2019

Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure has proposed introducing mandatory inspections of the technical condition of cars and trailers (including private vehicles) starting from 2019, and motorcycles starting from 2022.

This schedule is stipulated in the draft law on bringing Ukrainian legislation on road transport in line with EU regulations which has been developed by the ministry pursuant to the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine.

According to the draft law, the technical inspection of international class buses will start from 2017. Inspections of international class trucks and trailers will start this year.

According to the draft law, a new system for testing the suitability of vehicles for use will be introduced, in particular, car service stations will be required to ensure inspections.

New cars will undergo the first inspection in four to five years.

While a manufacturer's warranty is valid, technical maintenance and repair can be carried out at any repair center in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements.
