Cascade Investment Fund buys 5% in Kernel

Cascade Investment has bought 5% of shares in Kernel agro-holding, Ukraine's largest sunflower oil producer, the company said in a report on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE).

According to the report, Cascade Investment Fund as of October 13, 2015 had accumulated 3.984 million of shares in Kernel Holding S.A., which is 5% of its share capital and the overall number of votes at the general shareholders’ meeting of the company.

The social policy and communications service of Kernel told Interfax-Ukraine that Cascade Investment Fund has no relation to Cascade Investment, LLC that belongs to the founder of Microsoft Bill Gates.

"The name is similar, but these are different organizations," Kernel said.

Kernel is a vertically integrated company which has been operating in the Ukrainian agribusiness sector since 1994. The group produces sugar and sunflower oil, distributes bottled oil under the brand names Schedry Dar, Stozhar and Chumak Zolota, exports oil and grain, and provides elevator storage services for grain and oilseeds.
