Next rise in utilities tariffs will cause surge in demand for energy saving technologies - expert

The next increase in housing and utilities services tariffs will cause a surge in demand for household use of technologies designed to save energy and gas, director of SVOD commercial and industrial enterprise (Severodonetsk, Luhansk region), Viktoria Ahaka, has said.

According to the press service of the company, at present demand for water filters for washing machines and dishwashers, as well as boilers, has increased.

Ahaka said the demand for water filters will also increase when Ukrainian cities start turning off hot water due to maintenance work.

According to the expert, the sale of water filters from all manufacturers will grow by at least 35-40%. She noted that the increase from April 1 of housing and utilities services tariffs for electricity for the public led to a 15% increase in demand for water filters.

She said that in regions with medium and high levels of water hardness, after just three months of using household appliances a minimum thickness of 1 mm is formed, which leads to an increase in electricity consumption and payment costs for it.

"When hot water is turned off and the boiler becomes a must, overpayment might reach UAH 400 and even UAH 700 per month," she said.
