Moscow court dismisses Roshen claim in Lipetsk case on tax avoidance

Moscow's Basmanny Court on June 26 dismissed a claim of OJSC Lipetsk Roshen Confectionary Factory against the opening of a criminal case on tax avoidance.

An Interfax correspondent has reported that judge Valentina Levashova dismissed the claim.

Representing Roshen, lawyer Irina Biriukova said that there was no basis for opening the criminal case.

"The information that was the basis for opening the case is absent, it is not confirmed and no one approved it," the lawyer said in court.

She said that the Federal Tax Service continues to work with Lipetsk Roshen Confectionary Factory.

"The main claim, as it is seen from the resolution, is aimed not at Lipetsk Roshen Factory, but at its contractor. We believe that the claims cannot be sent to us, we presented all the materials," she said.

Representatives of the Investigation Committee of Russia and the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia asked the court to reject the claim, saying no legal violations occurred during the opening of the case.

Roshen Corporation, one of the largest producers of confectionery goods in Ukraine, includes Kyiv, Kremenchuk (Poltava region) and Mariupol confectionery factories, two production sites in Vinnytsia region, Bershadmoloko milk and butter plant (Vinnytsia region), two production facilities in Lipetsk region (Russia), Klaipeda confectionery factory (Lithuania).
